À l’occasion de l’acquisition de ces deux œuvres majeures, le [mac] propose à Ali Cherri de choisir dans les collections des Musées de Marseille des pièces résonnant avec son œuvre sculptée et vidéo, et de penser une scénographie comme un dialogue, où les objets sortent des discours encyclopédiques, pour être pleinement matière et susciter l’émotion, hors récits muséographiques traditionnels ou occidentaux. Les Totems sont des manières de raconter l’histoire par accumulation.
Présents spontanément dans la « zone torride » de notre globe et marqueurs d’aridité, les cactus constituent un objet d’étude idéal pour appréhender la diffusion progressive du foisonnement des flores tropicales en Occident au gré des expéditions, des explorations et de l’explosion de l’horticulture au XIXe siècle.
Framer Framed presents Shapeshifters: On Wounds, Wonders and Transformation, on view from 15 October 2025 until 11 January 2026. This group exhibition features works by al-yené, Antonio Jose Guzman & Iva Jankovic, Georges Senga, Kader Attia, kosisochukwu nnebe, Leah Zhang, Pei-Hsuan Wang, Sammy Baloji & Cécile Fromont, Mirelle van Tulder, and Anna Safiatou Touré. Together, they explore how colonialism has shaped the ways in which we perceive and interpret museums, archives, and other knowledge institutions, revealing the (im)material scars left by systemic violence.
Once Within a Time takes its title from the most recent film by Godfrey Reggio, the legendary experimental filmmaker who has long resided in Santa Fe. Reggio’s Once Within a Time (2022) intertwines fairytale atmospheres with apocalyptic landscapes, pursuing a form of storytelling that blends the fantastical and the mundane in a moving portrait of the existential condition. Inspired by the film’s circular narratives, the 12th International places storytelling at its heart, exploring New Mexico’s multilayered histories through the lens of more than ninety participants.
The main exhibition of the 6th Kyiv Biennial 2025, titled Near East, Far West, is organized by a consortium of curators from L’Internationale, a European confederation of museums, art institutions and universities. It features seven new artists’ commissions, alongside works from the collections of member institutions of L’Internationale and a number of other loans.
