Personal Exhibition of Mohssin Harraki
From February 16 to March 24, 2017
Opening February 16 at 6 pm, in the presence of the artist
Mohssin Harraki initiates his research on history in relation to the urgency of a particular idea in the present moment. The resulting works produce a politicized reinterpretation of the present through various narratives that transpose and complexify ideas (events, characters, words, objects of different eras) through different levels of reading that allow us to confront each other. history.
If photos are quotations of apparent reality, what happens when words, phrases are used in a plastic process? Or, when photos and words are associated in a sculpture or installation? What does the composition tell us? This is what really fascinates me in Mohssin Harraki’s new works, conceived as a set for the exhibition at the Imane Farès Gallery. It is a study of memory and memory at the dawn of the 21st century, of a present time that has its roots in a very distant past.
